I have thirty years of experience and a proven track record as a filmmaker, business coach and educator. I've produced feature films, short films and cross platform projects. I've designed and delivered workshops and training programmes for aspiring film makers and aspiring entrepreneurs.
I've owned and managed two independent production companies and have been responsible for the development, financing and production of over fifty audio-visual projects. I've delivered projects to exhibitors, distributors, broadcasters and screen agencies including the BBC, ITV, Channel Four, SKY, Amazon, Screen Yorkshire, Northern Film & Media and the UK Film Council.
I'm a graduate of the prestigious European Audio-visual Entrepreneurs programme (EAVE). I've worked as a mentor for The Digital City, a film specialist for Generator, and as a senior lecturer for the Media Business School. I currently coach entrepreneurs from all backgrounds, disciplines and degree programmes as a Start-up Adviser for Newcastle University.
My last feature film, The Carer starring Brian Cox, won 'Best of Fest' at both the Palm Springs International Film Festival 2016 and the 70th Edinburgh International Film Festival.
My career so far has provided me with an in-depth knowledge of the film industry and my work as a coach and mentor has provided me an insight into the digital, tech and science industries.
My management and leadership experience, specialist skills and knowledge are transferable across many sectors and have proved valuable in a continually developing and convergent business environment.
My success to date has been reliant on my ability to communicate ideas and influence decisions: from one-to-one meetings to formal presentations.
I have pitched and presented to ‘decision makers’, panels of industry ‘gatekeepers’ and a diverse range of stakeholders.
My ability to communicate ideas and engage audiences has been a key factor in my success as an independent professional, film producer, coach and mentor.
I thrive on taking ideas from concept to completion, helping talent realise their potential and making things happen!
